Welcome to a magnificent 18th century reproduction of a Pennsylvania farmhouse designed by G. Edwin Brumbaugh, a nationally known restoration architect who was responsible for the preservation of the earliest and most unusual American houses and historic sites in the nation.

According to the records of the American Institute of Architects, Brumbaugh spent 68 years in the field of restoration. Winterthur Museum was the recipient of his drawings and documents along with the blueprints of this house. This is part of the Joseph Downs Manuscript Collection, a wealth of architectural and research material for study in the history of restoration and preservation.

The house was built to be a country farmhouse. Made of Chestnut Hill stone, it is a house of quality with paneled mantels, chair rails, walnut random width floors, all handcrafted on the premises by highly skilled craftsmen. The fireplace panels were designed, sketched and drawn for individual approval. Bricks came from the basement of the old house that was on the property originally. Beams came from the barn and were used for all porches. The foundation of the garage and courtyard were used from the old house. The broken arched doorways reflect the same used in the lovely 18th century Philadelphia houses including Independence Hall. Take special notice of the bull's eye windowpanes above the Dutch door in the center hall. Each room on the first floor has access to the beautifully manicured 4.8 acres. The property is situated at the end of a secluded private lane in a sylvan, park-like setting. You will surely appreciate every aspect of this absolutely charming home.
