Although your paint was applied with care, exposure to sun, rain, and lawn sprinklers will cause it to deteriorate. Even with proper painting procedures, sap or knot holes may bleed through trim as it is made from new lumber. Repainting should be part of your regular homeowner's maintenance. Exterior wood trim should be checked to avoid bare wood from ever becoming exposed. Repainting of exterior wood trim is recommended after the second year.
