Fourth In A Series
BESTWELD, INC., manufacturer of the newly approved Belled-End fitting recognizes the publication of Manufacturer's Standardization Society Specification MSS SP119 entitled "Belled End Socket Welding Fittings, Stainless Steel and Copper Nickel". This commercial specification is based on testing performed by the U.S. Navy in their Carderock Division, Annapolis, MD. Belled End Fittings were tested for burst and fatigue in conjunction with butt-welding, cast socket and forged socket welding fittings. The BESTWELD Belled End fitting proved equal in burst testing and superior in fatigue testing.BESTWELD Belled End fittings are a "wrought" product, formed from pipe or tube, sheet or plate and designed to be welded to "wrought" stainless steel, copper-nickel, aluminum or titanium pipe. BESTWELD Belled End fittings are available in several wall thicknesses(pipe schedules). Testing has proven that welding BESTWELD Belled End fittings to pipe with an equivalent wall thickness creates a flex continuum.
This new commercial specification with stringent beginning raw material requirements will yield fittings that are capable of withstanding the rigorous applications found in shipboard piping(pressure and fatigue) and because of ease of installation and extended life cycle, fittings that are cost effective.
