Seventh In A Series
Bestweld’s newly revamped Quality Assurance Program has been approved by Newport News Shipbuilding, one of our nation’s leading naval shipbuilders. Bestweld’s quality system is now considered to be in general compliance with ISO 9002 and MIL-I-45208A based on the satisfactory corrective action received in response to the discrepancies noted during it’s most recent audit. In addition, the Department of the Navy, Program Executive Office, Carriers has approved MSS SP119 "Belled-End Fittings" and the P80 joint (fillet joint defined in MSS SP119) for use in various P-2 piping systems. The P-80 joint has proven to be a cost effective alternative over the butt weld joint (P-2). Significant savings in fit-up and welding costs were realized by Puget Sound Naval Shipyard using BESTWELD "Belled-End Fittings" during the recent retro-fit of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72).
