Linda Fanning-Lefevre has been exhibiting paintings and drawings since 1984. While her main body of work is in oils, she also works in charcoal and in mixed-media. One can often find particles of paint scrapped from a dried palette, lead, or remnants of recycled drawings in her paintings.

On seeing Fanning-Lefevre’s work for the first time one may not immediately discern a pattern in what appears to be disjointed imagery. Upon closer inspection her canvases seem to recall archetypal images reminiscent of prehistoric cave paintings set in a contemporary context: we see male and female torsos, animals, dwellings, and landscapes all coming together into a vibrant whole. The work is powerful and intense. One keeps going back to her paintings and discovering new relationships between images, shapes and colors. Her paintings are alive and they recall the joy and pathos of life.

She studied art at Kutztown University under the direction of painters Anna Kuo and George Sorrels, where she received a BS in Art Education. She continued her studies at Penn State Harrisburg and received an MA in Humanities in 1997.

Fanning-Lefevre has spent time abroad in France, Italy, Spain and the British Isles. She is the recipient of several awards including a 1997 fellowship to study at the Vermont Studio School.

She has exhibited throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including exhibits at the State Museum in Harrisburg, the Reading Public Museum, and several college and university galleries including those at Albright College, Muhlenberg College, Moore College of Art, Harrisburg Area Community College, Penn State University and Lehigh University.

Her work is in a number of private and public collections.
