aWebVisit - Summary

(from 30/May/2000:09:35:20 to 04/Jun/2000:18:20:14)

1. Introduction

aWebVisit extracts visitor information from WWW logfiles. For each visit, your web pages are then classified as an entry, transit, exit and/or hit&run page. The links followed during the visit to your website are classified as incoming, internal, outgoing and/or in&out links. If you are not familiar with these concepts, you will find more detailed explanations in the Help file.

The flow of visitors through your website can be summarised as follows :

Entry Transit Exit Hit&Run --> Entry --> Entry Incoming Incoming Internal Internal Outgoing Outgoing In&Out In&Out Exit --> Exit --> --> Hit&Run --> Hit&Run

Some global web maps are available. Try using aWebVisit-Map for individual page maps...

2. Logfile Information

Start date 30/May/2000:09:35:20
End date 04/Jun/2000:18:20:14
'Page' hits 209
'Image' hits 287
Hits from excluded hosts
Skipped entries 0
Valid entries 496

The 'page' hits represent 42.1 % of all valid hits on your website. The 'image' hits are excluded as specified in the current configuration of aWebVisit. You do not need to include or exclude other types of pages for the moment...

This is probably not a large enough sample for statistical analysis. Please use logfiles covering a longer period of time...

Total 209 100.0   23 100.0   1 9.1 49 23.4 /

It is worthwhile spending some time on this table. Notice for instance that of the 209 page visits, 15.3 % are hit & runs. Or that of the 23 different pages on your website, 52.2 % are used as an exit page at least once.

Based on the 41 entries to your website, you can also see that 85.4 % of your visitors use page / to enter your site, and 29.3 % use page /listings.html right before leaving your website. And the same entry page is also responsible for 25.0 % of the hit & runs.

5. Link Information

Total 128 100.0   41 100.0   1 3.1 34 26.6 / /main.html

Interpretation of this table is similar to the one above. Note that redirects by your web server will also appear as links, and that frames will generate links between the main frame and its children.

Since 23 different pages were visited and 41 different links were followed on your website, we can say that visitors usually follow 1.8 links per page. This means that you may not have enough hyperlinks on your site, or that they are hardly ever used.

6. Status Information

The 'usual' status codes, i.e. 200 (Okay) and 304 (Not modified), represent 95.2 % of all hits.
The others are examined in more detail here.
