Rock

I came upon a rock,
That former life lived on,
Reminded me of my clock,
Ticking toward it's last tock.

As I stood there seeing,
A previous being,
Leaving their mark in fossil,
I had to pause and wonder... if I will?

Will my imprint,
On this heavenly experiment,
Be admired for years to come,
Or, will my doings... make things come undone?

What is my contribution,
To history,
Going to be?
A bogus institution,
To pollution?
What is my contribution,
To society,
Going to be,
A bogus institution,
To starvation?
Humiliation,
Or, a humanitarian nation?

I came upon a rock,
And, said,
"Well,
I wonder if it fell
From my head."

... and, put it back.
