you need to know.
Signed Bands/Artists
If you represent a signed
band/artist, your review will appear on our website (http://membrane.com/renegade).
To find out when we update our website – and lots of other things about
Geoff
Wilbur’s Renegade Newsletter – we recommend that you sign up for our
monthly mailing list. Once a month, we update you on the latest information
at Geoff Wilbur’s Renegade Newsletter. (In our busiest e-mailing
year since starting the e-mail list in late 1999, we sent out 12 e-mails
for an average of one a month – we will not flood your e-mailbox.)
To sign up for our mailing list, send a blank e-mail to gwrn-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
As a representative of a signed band/artist, you don’t need to complete
and submit the GWRN review form with your disc – the review form is
for unsigned/indie artists.

Unsigned or Indie Bands/Artists
If
you are (or represent) an unsigned or independent band/artist, your
review will appear in one of our print publications, which are read by
200 industry execs (at major labels, indie labels, management companies,
and other miscellaneous industry people; note: 100 country music execs
if country) plus 50 bands/musicians… and all the other people at the execs’
companies, people who visit their offices, etc. It’s a great way to get
exposure and increase awareness for yourself and your band around the music
business. Also, to stay current with GWRN goings-on, I would still
recommend joining our monthly mailing list by sending a blank e-mail to
gwrn-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
(It often answers the questions that you might otherwise flood our e-mailbox
with... not that we discourage you from contacting us, but limiting unnecessary
questions leaves us more time to promote GWRN, write our reviews,
and help you in other ways. As noted in the paragraph above, in our busiest
e-mailing year since starting the e-mail list in late 1999, we sent out
12 e-mails for an average of one a month – we will not flood your
e-mailbox.) In addition, we request:
- 1 or 2 copies of your disc/tape. 2 copies allows us to send one to a less dependable writer (one whose reviews are more often not within the GWRN style guidelines and may not be fit to run in the magazine, for example) who knows your style of music best while sending the other copy to a more dependable GWRN staffer.
- Your bio (2 copies please if you send 2 discs).
- A completed GWRN review form (and, depending on your responses on the form, perhaps a self-addressed, stamped envelope).
- Contact information.
- A check, if necessary, if you want a print copy of GWRN and/or a subscription. These options are listed on the review form.

Geoff Wilbur’s Renegade Newsletter prints two different Industry Editions. The Industry Edition covers all styles of music except country.The Country Music Industry Edition covers only country music.
The
Geoff
Wilbur's Renegade Newsletter Printing Schedule: The
original "Industry Edition" is printed in early February, May, August,
and November. The "Country Music Industry Edition" is mailed in early spring,
summer, fall and winter.
