Bala Cynwyd is a Welsh name, Wales (or Cymru) being a country within the UK. Welsh is one of the six surviving celtic language, spoken by around 19% of the population - mostly in the North West of the country.
Bala Cynwyd lies on the
boundary line between Philadelphia and Montgomery
Counties. (Not only is Philadelphia a city, it is also
a county.)
Most people consider the "heart" of Bala Cynwyd to
be at the intersection of the Schuylkill Expressway
(Route 76) and City Line Avenue (Route 1) in Lower
Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
Bala Cynwyd is best known for its upscale shopping,
office buildings, hotels and restaurants.
