aWebVisit - Summary

(from 07/May/2000:09:17:57 to 04/Jun/2000:11:51:39)

1. Introduction

aWebVisit extracts visitor information from WWW logfiles. For each visit, your web pages are then classified as an entry, transit, exit and/or hit&run page. The links followed during the visit to your website are classified as incoming, internal, outgoing and/or in&out links. If you are not familiar with these concepts, you will find more detailed explanations in the Help file.

The flow of visitors through your website can be summarised as follows :

Entry Transit Exit Hit&Run --> Entry --> Entry Incoming Incoming Internal Internal Outgoing Outgoing In&Out In&Out Exit --> Exit --> --> Hit&Run --> Hit&Run

Some global web maps are available. Try using aWebVisit-Map for individual page maps...

This is probably a good number for statistical analysis : enough samples to be useful, but small enough to be processed quickly...

Total 7422 100.0   307 100.0   1 24.2 1280 17.2 /

It is worthwhile spending some time on this table. Notice for instance that of the 7422 page visits, 25.4 % are hit & runs. Or that of the 307 different pages on your website, 34.9 % are used as an exit page at least once.

Based on the 1125 entries to your website, you can also see that 41.6 % of your visitors use page / to enter your site, and 14.7 % use page /video/index.html right before leaving your website. And the same entry page is also responsible for 27.8 % of the hit & runs.

5. Link Information

Total 3600 100.0   1011 100.0   1 3.6 209 5.8 /longbone /longbone/

Interpretation of this table is similar to the one above. Note that redirects by your web server will also appear as links, and that frames will generate links between the main frame and its children.

Since 307 different pages were visited and 1011 different links were followed on your website, we can say that visitors usually follow 3.3 links per page. This means that visitors do not use many hyperlinks on your site.
